Works perfectly with esp32 over uart. Since we are reading the data from a scanner, we only need to use gnd, vin(3.3v), and tx wires. I was doing multiple things to set this up, and none were working. Simple scan reset qr code from the user manual given in section 1.8, and then scan serial output qr code in section 2.1, baud 9600. This will work like a charm.
Just connect the scanner tx pin to esp32 pin 16(or any pin you decide to make rx), vin to 3.3v, and gnd to gnd and voila…
