When the lamp is on its stand, it emits a soft light when you approach it, practical when you get up at night to avoid turning on the room light that might wake up your partner or spouse.

It came with the plug twisted, most likely due to impacts on the way. I was able to straighten it with a little heat and some pressure. It turned out perfect, but I recommend that you better protect the plug, as it is very exposed during transportation.
