Taranis red/white non slip sole skate shoe.
These are amazing shoes! We have 4 pairs of Taranis shoes for our 3yo boy, and all of them are incredible in terms of build quality, materials, esthetics, and fit. I readily recommend Taranis to other parents I know.
That said, these are probably my least favorite pair, based only off the slightly narrower design/look and the overly whimsical patterns imprinted in the materials. I think it makes them more suited towards younger ages. That's just personal nitpicking and preference, but maybe my mentioning it could be helpful for others to consider. He recently had several valentines day themed events at his preschool though, and these shoes absolutely rocked with his outfits on those days! The only other potential concern I've considered with this style of shoe is that the upper is solid material with no integrated mesh or other ventilation. So, these little kicks might get warm on hot, active, days. Not too concerning with really young kids, but the older and more active they are, it might be something to consider. If you're looking at having one pair of primary daily wear shoes, I'd recommend looking at one of the other Taranis shoes that has more integrated ventilation in them. One of the designs that is more like a typical walking shoe.
Impressions of the Brand:
The material used is extremely good quality. Unless something out of the ordinary happens, you should be able to pay these forward to another kid once yours has outgrown them.
The construction is exemplary. From the stitching, the eyelets, the tread, the seam between the upper/soles, you name it, it's great. I've looked hard at all 4 styles we have, and I really cannot find flaws with how Taranis shoes are constructed. They're great!
They open up wide, so it's easy to get your kid's foot in. But, they still fit properly and you can easily get them as tight as you'd like. These skate shoes are tightened by the single velcro style tab that goes across the top of the tongue. The laces below that are elastic. It makes the skate shoes quick and easy to get on, yet they tighten up appropriately.
The shoes have amazing padding. Taranis shoes have a removable insert, that actually provides some padding and support. The foot bed feels so much softer than his other brands of shoes.
The design of their shoes includes a wide toe box. There's a lot of positives related to this, if you look into it. As a person who's suffered through narrow toe boxes as a kid, I'm glad my little guy doesn't have to.
Taranis shoes look amazing! I didn't know if I could put comparison pics of these next to his other brands, but these look so much better. There's a lot of thoughtful design features in these shoes. It's hard to articulate, but the shoes just look really nice. All of his pairs are winners.
The price. This is my thorn, because its kind of a lot to spend for a temporary clothing item. But, when I objectively look at what you're getting for the price, compared to what you get with other shoes we own, I can see that it's fair. I look at it like this, I like how they look, I like the fit, I know they are more comfortable, and I know I can donate them to someone else once he's outgrown them.
